So, I was on YouTube watching videos and this random video popped up in my suggestions feed that showed a 3D resin printer producing this large 7-8” figurine. It was grey due to the color of the resin, but still, it looked AMAZING!
I looked up the printer on Amazon and it only cost $1000. I don’t follow 3D printing. I know next to nothing about it other than it’s a cool, growing technology. However, I thought the printers were way more expensive than they actually are.
I love action figures, statues and other collectibles and always wanted to produce some of my own characters. However, the buy-in for action figure production is rather costly if you’re producing in bulk(as high as $75000 for one figure for a minimum of 5000 units, for instance), so I was always looking for something with a lower buy-in cost and lower initial capital risk and it seems like 3D printing is a viable option!
ANY 3D PRINT STATUE COLLECTORS OUT THERE?!
I was thinking that I could definitely hire some 3D modelers to produce printable models of some of my characters and do 3D prints ON-DEMAND, even as part of a future crowdfunding campaign.
My customers would finally be able to own physical figurines of my characters like Jeggy, Surfer Girl, Metawoman, Ravenger X, Knightwalker and others.
The 3D printer I’m looking at—ANYCUBIC Photon M3 Max Resin 3D Printer—is $1100 and can print figures as large as 13”x12”x7” tall!
Imagine the possibilities!
WHAT DO YOU THINK?
I haven’t done the economics yet in regards to the cost of the resin, the cost of the hiring a 3D modeler to do models or shipping fees to customers, but I’m really interested in doing this.
Would you want to own figurines of my characters?

Figure collectionner here :3 in fact I also buy a resign 3d printer to make my own. In any case I would follow with great interest you 3d print adventure.
I’ve loved sculpture all my life, but never took a chance with it...3D resin printing is an arena that I’m getting more and more interested in, especially as the technology (and accessibility, as you noted) has improved greatly in a seemingly short spanse of time.
