BUILDING A NEW PLATFORM/WEBSITE AS A KICKSTARTER ALTERNATIVE
As I work on the variant covers for the XTENDED EDITIONS of my comics (2 finished out of 9) and Jex edit’s our next YouTube video (a 2022 Warframe game review), I’m now working with web designers to build a brand-new website just for Sinthetic Reality Studios where we’ll be able to launch exclusive projects for pre-order/crowdfund without needing to rely on Kickstarter and Indiegogo.
It won’t be cheap to build a site like this from scratch, but in the long-term it will be worth it. Sites like Kickstarter and Indiegogo take a 5% platform fee off of the top of every funded project. I won’t disclose how much we raised on these platforms over the last few years, but I’ll tell you that the platform fees were more than enough for us to build our own site many, MANY times over. The money saved in fees can go into reinvesting into the business.
We will still use public platforms, but the goal is to—over time—drive more and more customers to OUR PLATFORM with unique perks and rewards for those who decide to give our site a chance.
This is what it’s going to look like for our web designers:
WEBSITE REQUIREMENTS
Similar design structure to Kickstarter/Indiegogo
SignUp/Login
Account management
Platform backend and project management
“Funds Raised” real-time progress bar
Files uploading feature
Crowdfunding PLEDGE & donation
Ability to run multiples campaigns simultaneously
Product add-ons feature
automatic digital delivery of PDF files at the point-of-sale
Payment and marketing (Bitcoin, Paypal, VISA, Mastercard)
Social media integration(platforms like GETTR, Substack, YouTube) & many more.
private messaging
I think the first project we’ll launch on the website will be SuperHeroes After Dark 5: Bedlam City Bangers, which is set to launch on May 27th on Kickstarter and possibly on our new platform.
I think it's a good idea. Plus I can give some feedback on the WD build if you want it?
For me personally, one thing I'd like to see from any self-owned crowd fund is accountability. How is it enforced, will there be a refund process...etc. When a third party is involved, there are policies and procedures there, at least to an extent. If someone does pre orders with a long lead time on their own, it is hard to know what guarantee you'll receive what you ordered in a reasonable time frame and what the recourse might be.
