PLAYING CATCH-UP AND MODIFYING THE SCHEDULE
Creating and publishing comic books is a strange, multi-faceted process. Crowdfunding the process is even more complicated and includes a unique set of responsibilities.
One thing I hate more than anything is owing people. I HATE IT. I feel like a person with a storm cloud hovering over me with a slight drizzle beaming off of my head with every day that passes with an unfulfilled campaign.
Crowdfunding comics involves owing people because the capital risk typically associated with publishing anything is usually a weight carried by the publisher not the customers. With crowdfunding, that risk is inverted; backers give you money and then wait, hoping they receive the product they paid for.
I’ve been operating on the former for years, but I’m looking to flip to the latter here this year.
I’m pushing back several projects and consolidating others so as to not affect cash flow too adversely but still be productive.
To summarize: I don’t want customers to wait 6-8 months or longer to get a comic book from me going forward. To this end, I’m adapting my 2022 schedule. This is how it looks now…
ADAPTED 2022 CURRENT SCHEDULE
Launch SUPER FUNTIME ARCADE campaign (18 illustrations) this week.
Finish XTENDED EDITION variant covers for pre-existing comics (9 new cover illustrations) and then fulfill for their respective backers.
Work on backlogged commissions which will make up the content for Goodtime Girls and Waifu Wonderland. Fulfill those.
Launch SKIN Megazine in April (which will combine the pinup art in both
Goodtime Girls and Waifu Wonderland into one 85-90pg megazine) with a unique cover and a few new interior pinup pages. This will be for those who missed one or both of those original campaigns and just want to finish their collections.
And this is important… WORK ON SUPERHEROES AFTER DARK 5 (32 pages )and complete as many pages as possible in time for the Kickstarter campaign that will launch in late May. The goal is to have a very, very short turnaround time for backers/pre-order customers to receive their copy.
By the time late June/early July comes around I want to have fulfilled/delivered Super Funtime Arcade, Dangerous Curves/MAVRIX: Enter The Dollhouse Xtended Edition, Goodtime Girls, Waifu Wonderland, SKIN Megazine AND SuperHeroes After Dark 5. This will reset the production pipeline and get us back to square one, owing no one.
By early July, I’ll have been working on Neon Dreams 2 for awhile and when the campaign for that goes live, it will be heavily in development
SUPER FUNTIME ARCADE LAUNCHING IN A FEW DAYS
The campaign for Super Funtime Arcade is nearly done. It will be a fun, sexy calendar that I hope you’ll be happy to have in your collection.
SIGN UP TO BE NOTIFIED: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/shadedraws/super-arcade-funtime-18-month-calendar
And in this campaign, you’ll be able to pick up another little gem called HAPPY HAUNTED HAREM.
A NEW 36-PAGE PINUP BOOK, HAPPY HAUNTED HAREM!
I had some people ask me if I was going to be offering textless versions of the art from the SCAROUSED! calendar in a comic-sized publication. I decided that I would take the content from both SCAROUSED! and the Super Funtime Arcade calendar(which would total 36 pages) and combine them into a new pinup book.
So, if you don’t really care about oversized calendars and just want a smut comic you can include in your collection with your other bagged/boarded comics, Happy Haunted Harem will be for you.
Babes who are sexy, sunny, bouncy, happy, scary, haunting, fun and hair-raising all at the same time!
HAPPY HAUNTED HAREM will be available in the Super Funtime Arcade calendar Kickstarter campaign!
Best of luck man. I know that feeling of owing someone something. Good luck to your adjusted release schedule.
