STARTING A CONSULTING COMPANY FOR INDIE COMIC CREATORS?
SHADE’S AND JEX’S ACTION FIGURES PODCAST EPISODE 4! Starfield, Cyberpunk 2077, Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines 2 and more!
CONSULTING BUSINESS?
Something I’ve said often in person for about the past half-decade—to people and in comments online on platforms like YouTube—is to “CREATE YOUR OWN CULTURE”. This is something I’m passionate about. Even if you’re just creating adult pop culture parody stuff like Jex and I do, it’s important for people to know that they have outlets to express themselves in and even monetize their creative passions.
Over the last 11 years, I’ve successfully crowdfunded and fulfilled dozens of comic, graphic novel and merchandise projects on places like Kickstarter, Indiegogo and even my own websites. I’ve often taken my independence for granted and realized over time how wonderful creative and financial independence is. I’d like to change that by sharing what I’ve learned.
After over a decade of running a small publishing company, we’re fairly educated on the logistics involved in shipping product, the economics involved in hiring subcontractors for a variety of jobs and what it takes to either produce work yourself or teach yourself how to do it. Soup to nuts, so to speak.
I’ve been considering starting a consulting company to help people who might want to create a graphic novel, comic, merchandise, YouTube videos, .etc, but don’t know where to start. I put together a rough website for such a consulting business but have yet to make it public.
I really REALLY want to empower more people who are in the stands to come down, get on the field and start competing in the market with new ideas, characters, stories, worlds and business initiatives. This might be an opportunity to help some of you go from customers to creators.
Are YOU an aspiring writer/artist/colorist/editor/publisher/video content creator who wants to know what it takes to turn your passion into a business? LET ME KNOW IN THE COMMENTS and let’s chat.

GOOD GIRLS GONE BAD?
One of the features in the upcoming “FATAL FEMMES” project will be taking some of pop culture’s sweetest, kindest and most heroic good girls into the nastiest, shrewdest and crudest bad girls.
What would Wonder Woman look like if she embraced some of the most extreme aspects of her bondage-themed origins?
What would Captain Marvel look like if she abandoned her cause of intergalactic peace and order in exchange for personal power and sexual conquest?
These are among the heroines I’ll be illustrating with a new, sexier “dark side” for Fatal Femmes.
Stay tuned!
FATAL FEMMES
The “femme fatale” is a character that has always subverted social norms and psychological prejudices. Often times in fiction, an villainous, antagonistic character is portrayed as having some physical malformation or in the least is average or below-average looking. This represents the “ugliness” at the core of the villain that the hero must defeat.
However, the femme fatale is different; she is normally exemplified as being unusually physically attractive, which tantalizes the male protagonist—and by extension the audience—but she is actually a dangerous and deadly obstacle to the hero’s goals.
She will use her feminine wiles to distract, coerce, cajole and disrupt the hero’s plans. He may want to be seduced by her, but this is to his detriment and folly. She often wears dark clothing that is inviting, tantalizing and seductive; but this is a siren’s song for the uninitiated. She plans to harm and perhaps even kill to achieve her own ends.
SHADE’S FATAL FEMMES is an uncensored adult art book that will celebrate this stories archetypal figure in fiction and show off some contemporary expressions of this idea. The project will launch on Kickstarter and Fundrazr on September 16th!
The following are a few characters in popular culture that you might recognize as being femme fatales:
Catwoman
Black Cat
Widowmaker (Overwatch)
Boa Hancock (One Piece)
Lady Dimitrescu (Resident Evil Village)
Akasha (The Vampire Chronicles)
Who are some of your favorite femme fatales in comics, video games, movies, books and other forms of media?

Shade’s FATAL FEMMES launches on Kickstarter and Fundrazr on September 16th! In the vein of Goodtime Girls, Waifu Wonderland and SKIN Megazine, this femme fatales-themed uncensored art book will feature some of the baddest, bitchiest and bootylicious bad girls in all of gaming, comics, movies and more!
Check out the rough sketch for “NIGHT OWL” Variant Cover for “SuperHeroes After Dark TRILOGY Vol. 2 - Second Coming”.
I’ll be finishing this over the coming weeks and offering it on the Fundrazr page as a variant showing Blackfire in the background as the villain of the bonus 12-page scene.
SuperHeroes After Dark TRILOGY Vol. 2: Second Coming is a 150+ page adult superhero graphic novel that combines three previous comics:

Would it be for just adult comics or just indie comics in general? I’m working on a graphic novel. The graphic artist is working on the cover right now.
Cool.
